The motif

The stripe is the most immediate and recognisable pattern in textiles. Here it is read in colour combinations meant to be lively without taking over. The drawing is part of the cloth itself, which lasts longer than a print.

Where and how to use it

Thrown over the back of a neutral sofa it becomes the focal point of the room at once. Taken outside it works as a picnic rug or a beach blanket, and looks less anonymous than a towel. At 130 by 170 cm it is comfortable for one person and folds down easily to carry.

Pairing it

Coloured stripes sit best against plain grounds: a grey, beige or white sofa shows them off without competing. In a room already full of pattern, the quieter colourways are the better choice. Beside plain cushions picked from one of the colours in the stripe, the effect is considered without effort.
