This site was built to be used with a keyboard, with a screen reader, at a large text size and with animation turned off. This page says what that means in practice and where we know it falls short.
What the site does
- Every control can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, and the focus ring is always visible.
- Tap targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
- No state is signalled by colour alone. A selected colourway carries a ring, a label and a pressed state, not just a coloured square.
- Functional text is never smaller than 14 pixels, and reading text is larger.
- If your system asks for reduced motion, the site stops moving. Nothing is lost by turning it off.
- Images that carry meaning have descriptions; images that are decoration are hidden from screen readers rather than described pointlessly.
- Overlays trap focus while open, close on Escape, and return focus where it was.
Where we know it is imperfect
Some product photography was inherited from the previous site and its descriptions are shorter than they should be. The checkout is Shopify's, so its behaviour is theirs rather than ours.
